The PhD programme in Renewable Energy is designed to meet 4 main objectives :

• Build capacity in the design, Configuration and construction of large-scale, Renewable Energy Systems with power outputs of over 1 Megawatts
• Stimulate and develop a spirit of innovation in the provision of novel solutions to the numerous problems of rural electrification in Africa
• Facilitate the development of a research culture to enable students explore the rapidly changing landscape of Renewable Energy Systems technology
• Mentor the students in the preparation of high quality PhD thesis

After completing the PhD programme in Renewable Energy, the student will be able to :

• Design and build a large-scale Solar System with an output of more than 1 Megawatts
• Design and build a Biomass Power System with an output of more than 1 Megawatts
• Design and build a large-scale Wind Energy System with an output of more than 1 Megawatts
• Design and build a Hydro-electric Power System with an output of more than 1 Megawatts
• Provide Innovative Renewable Energy Solutions to the problems of rural electrification of African countries
• Define and describe the major technological issues which are currently shaping the frontiers of Renewable Energy Systems technology
• Prepare a PhD thesis of high quality

The doctoral programme was accredited by the Cameroon Ministry of Higher Education in 2014

The accreditation is valid over a 10 year period ( 2014 – 2024)
